PHR Certification Paperwork

I have sent in the paperwork to finalize my PHR Certification. In a short month or so, I should have the response and also the certification to go with it. Then, it is off to use my ten years of line management with all of the HR experience to go with it. The combination of the experience and the knowledge from my great professors will make it so that I can help guide others to make the best decision possible. I am really looking forward to it. A lot of time and preparation has gone into this change.

Holiday Season

I love the holiday season. I can not think of a better time then when I get to see all of my family celebrating together and enjoying the festivities. Seeing the tree all light up and singing all of the songs just makes my heart melt. This year will be a little bit different. The tree is 3,000 miles away and it is waiting for me. I will still be there and get to celebrate as always.

The second best part of the holidays is all of the food and treats that are made. I love spending the time at home with everyone. Cooking for everyone is a great way for me to express how I feel to them. It appears that now there are more people that want to go out to a restaurant and eat. Not making food at home with and for others is a huge disappointment to me. I don't understand why they would rather have somebody else make the dinner and take care of them. I know that it is a lot of work, but there are great rewards for that work. For crying out loud, stay home and enjoy the time with others. The smaller the space, the more intimate the setting. This is really a time for families to celebrate each other and look towards the future.

Fall TIme

As I look out the window I am reminded that change is good. With the leaves changing colors, the rain starting to fall all of the time and my grass turning to the shade of green that everyone likes how can you not enjoy it.

This time also reminds me that with change there is a lot of work to do. My days off are now spent raking the leaves, cleaning the gutters and doing all of this without weakening my great immune system so that I don't get what everyone else is getting. With all of this, I still am enjoying all of the benefits of this time. You really can't enjoy a cup of hot chocolate in the morning when it is 80 degrees outside.

Family Camping Trip

We just got back from our first camping trip. It was a lot of fun and quite an adventure. For those that don't know, if you are camping midweek in the summer, you should still reserve a camping spot. Much to my surprise, we pulled up to Fort Stevens to read a sign that said campground, full. We drove for over two hours, so we went up to the ranger station and we were able to get a spot for a single night, half as long as we intended.

Now we are at the campsite and we set up the tent. A large tent that was able to be set up in 10 minutes. The Coleman tent that we had, was seen at many other sites and it was perfect for us. Now it is time for dinner. However, with both kids and all of the stuff in our CR-V, we were out of room for the firewood. So, off to the wood shed we went to see that they would deliver the wood to us. So, we had to wait. Once the wood arrived, we were all set. We had dinner and a great rest of the trip. Although it was a day shorter, we are better prepared for the next trip. This time with reservations, scoping out the sites and knowing what we are getting into, it will make it a much better time.

House Hunting

It is time to buy a house. We are going to look for a house that will meet our limited needs and have some place to keep all of the little things that the boys have. So far, we have found a couple of houses that we liked and still no news on whether or not we get to move into. It is quite a strange experience. I am used to being able to find something and then get it right away. With the houses, there are a number of possibilities that factor into the end purchase. All of this is taking place while I am watching my wife create these wonderful movies, the boys growing up and I am trying to finish the MSO and also find a job in Human Resources.
