We just got back from our first camping trip. It was a lot of fun and quite an adventure. For those that don't know, if you are camping midweek in the summer, you should still reserve a camping spot. Much to my surprise, we pulled up to Fort Stevens to read a sign that said campground, full. We drove for over two hours, so we went up to the ranger station and we were able to get a spot for a single night, half as long as we intended.
Now we are at the campsite and we set up the tent. A large tent that was able to be set up in 10 minutes. The Coleman tent that we had, was seen at many other sites and it was perfect for us. Now it is time for dinner. However, with both kids and all of the stuff in our CR-V, we were out of room for the firewood. So, off to the wood shed we went to see that they would deliver the wood to us. So, we had to wait. Once the wood arrived, we were all set. We had dinner and a great rest of the trip. Although it was a day shorter, we are better prepared for the next trip. This time with reservations, scoping out the sites and knowing what we are getting into, it will make it a much better time.
